⚔️ Longsword Dancing at The Ship Inn – Plough Sunday Celebration! ⚔️

We’re delighted to be hosting a fantastic bit of Yorkshire tradition here at The Ship Inn on Sunday 25th January 2026 at around 12:45pm.

Claro Longsword & Great Yorkshire Morris will be performing traditional Yorkshire Longsword dances as part of Plough Sunday celebrations – a historic festival marking the start of the farming year. Expect rhythmic stepping, clashing swords, lively music, and proper folk atmosphere!

Morris dancing is a centuries-old English folk tradition, with dancers in distinctive costumes, bell pads on their shins, and energetic choreographed routines performed to live music. It’s colourful, noisy, and great fun to watch!

Plough Sunday has long been celebrated with blessings for the farming year ahead, community gatherings, and traditional dance - and we’re proud to be part of keeping that tradition alive.
